Baykar Signs Preliminary Contract to Acquire Piaggio Aerospace: A Strategic Move for Turkish Defense Group

Baykar signed a preliminary agreement to purchase Piaggio Aerospace, a manufacturer of military and civil aircraft from Italy, on 27 January. All conditions must be met, which will include final approval of the transaction by the Italian Presidency of the Council of Ministers so that in the spring, the transaction can be completed. This transaction comes as a result of Piaggio's extended receivership under the Italian insolvency laws since 2018.

The proposed acquisition will bring some attention regarding its strategic significance and effect on the aviation industry both in Italy and globally.
