Baykar signed a preliminary agreement to purchase Piaggio Aerospace, a manufacturer of military and civil aircraft from Italy, on 27 January. All conditions must be met, which will include final approval of the transaction by the Italian Presidency of the Council of Ministers so that in the spring, the transaction can be completed. This transaction comes as a result of Piaggio's extended receivership under the Italian insolvency laws since 2018.
The proposed acquisition will bring some attention regarding its strategic significance and effect on the aviation industry both in Italy and globally. The signing event was witnessed by the Commissioners of Piaggio Aerospace-Carmelo Cosentino, Vincenzo Nicastro, and Gianpaolo Davide Rossetti, and Baykar CEO Haluk Bayraktar. Final conditions for the agreement remain and include the Italian government's veto over that agreement.
Baykar, as a top manufacturer of military UAVs, is ready to take over Piaggio Aerospace, which happens to be a top player in the military and civil aviation fields. This acquisition will allow Baykar to step into the field of civil aviation. And of all the composite wing and fuselage airplanes of Piaggio a special line that would include the Avanti II and Evo- Baykar is particularly interested in the twin-push version. The major area of expertise of Piaggio, including the hosting of design, production, and maintenance of the most advanced aircraft, will become the possession of Baykar. Moreover, Piaggio has a lineage of involvement with both military and commercial operations, making it a good purchase for Baykar.
The plans regarding the reboot of Piaggio Aero Industries and Piaggio Aviation subsidiaries have been grouped for engaging further growth. Amongst the abilities in developing military UAVs and advanced defense technologies, the Turkish group could well-lend these capabilities to serve as the linchpin to envisage the future of Piaggio's aeronautical aircraft design lines and possibly opening up the possibilities for a range of solutions on the next-generation of aviation services, designed either for military or civil applications. The future Avanti II and Evo lines will be a major discussion point with the trade unions during the upcoming consultation.
The acquisition by Piaggio Corporation of Baykar is expected to correctively increase the aviation industry in Italy by setting up jobs and industrial activities. Supported Minister of Businesses and Made in Italy will realize the future of Piaggio under the role of trade union representation of the layoff/discussion in business start and job security. Workforces, perhaps in engineering, mortar-busting, and aerospace sciences, have turned out to be the defenders, thus whistle for support during this joint mission of the mercenary acquisition.
This acquisition would also have implications far into the defense market and the wider European aerospace industry as Baykar will now enhance its focus on defense and aviation markets. For the same cause, having Piaggio enabled within its worldwide operations gives Baykar deductions in the overwhelming EU markets and further control of the commercial plane sector. This acquisition is an acquisition in step with the future of Italian aviation systems and may help bring more advances in aerospace excellence for Baykar.
