SK Chemicals will introduce its technological development and enhancement at CHINAPLAS, one of the top three plastics exhibitions. The CEO and president of SK Chemicals, Ahn Jae-hyun, announced the participation in CHINAPLAS 2025, held from 15th April for three days at the Shenzhen World Convention and Exhibition Center in Guangdong Province at China. CHINAPLAS is highly recognized for its NPE in the U.S. and K show in Germany, one of the largest shows in Asia, along with its top three chemical industry exhibitions.
The theme for this year's exhibition is collaboration, transformation, and sustainability, with the participation of over 4,000 companies from 150 countries to promote their latest innovative technologies. SK Chemicals will showcase its sustainable expertise solutions under its slogan “On-hand solution for a sustainable tomorrow,” according to the theme of the exhibition. SK Chemicals planned to focus on the proven commercial products currently available, like chemically recycled materials, supporting the environment, and promoting sustainable technological solutions to be approached and considered for implementation immediately. With SK Chemical’s designed recyclable materials, keeping both pre- and post-use recyclability is a thoughtful idea in the field of recycled materials, specifically on depolymerization technology. Further, it includes CLARO, a classified copolyester (post-consumer PET) application to skincare and makeup products from Estee Lauder and L’Oreal. Next is SKYPET CR, Coldplay eco-friendly vinyl records, and Samdasoo water bottles. ECOTRIA CR recycles copolyester used in interior tiles by the CS group. SK Chemicals plans to exhibit consumer products featuring flagship materials involving high-heat-resistant bio-based copolyester, which is seen in several food storage containers, sports bottles, baby tableware, and kitchen appliances called ECOZEN and PETG, applied to cosmetic packaging and iced cups known for their exceptional chemical resistance, transparency, and processability called SKYGREEN.
Furthermore, SK Chemicals will also introduce ECOTRION and SKYPEL. ECOTRION is mostly used in urethane elastomers, spandex, and synthetic leather. Whereas, SKYPEL is a polyester-based elastomer that combines properties like engineering plastics and rubber. It is used in subsea cables, breathable films, industrial hoses, relatable application products, and automotive parts.
SK Chemicals' depolymerization technology breaks down plastic waste at the molecular level, converting and reusing it as raw material. The quality, frequency, and properties leverage the company’s commercialization, promoting high-performance in innovative chemical invention.
President of SK Chemicals Ahn Jae-hyun, in his statement, demonstrated the company’s aim to contribute to environmental projects. He presented a sustainable solution for recycling plastic products back into new plastic, supporting the plastic ecosystem. Adding, he plans to build successful collaboration across industries to deliver unique products and technologies, providing circular recycling solutions.
