TCS Partners with MassRobotics to Accelerate Robotics Innovation in North America

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), a global IT service provider, has joined hands with MassRobotics, the largest independent robotics innovation hub in the world, to enhance innovation in the robotics ecosystem. The partnership will enable the advanced development of robotics solutions for various industries that deal more directly with consumers: retail, travel, transportation, hospitality, and consumer products. TCS will be establishing an onsite presence at MassRobotics' Boston facility so that they'll be able to work alongside robotics startups, academic researchers, and industry leaders. TCS will leverage its considerable skill set in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and automation in supporting the R&D efforts in areas applied to robotics.

Bridging the Gap Between Research and Industry Applications

TCS and MassRobotics have collaborated to accelerate the adoption of robotics and intelligent automation in businesses. The International Federation of Robotics presumes that over three million industrial robots will be installed worldwide by the year 2025 making the business efficient and operationally effective. As per the Executive Director of MassRobotics, Tom Ryden, this partnership is important because TCS has this global reach and very deep technical expertise, which will all lend to their mission of supporting robotics innovation. Recently, the initiatives have included launching the TCS Bringing Life to Things™ Internet Of Things (IoT) and Digital Engineering Lab in Cincinnati, Ohio, and TCS Pace Port™ co-innovation centers at Cornell Tech, Carnegie Mellon University, and TCS' campus in Toronto, Canada.

Key Focus Areas of the Collaboration

MassRobotics and TCS join to promote robotics research to industry adoption. This joint effort will focus on next-generation robotics solutions, emphasizing the areas of AI and machine learning, and joint R&D efforts. The goal shall be to engineer robotics solutions for defined industry application areas like retail, travel, transportation, hospitality, and consumer products productivity, safety, and customer experience.  In conjunction with these programs, TCS shall mentor and guide in technology and provide business development support to early-stage robotics startups benefiting from this initiative due to greater reach and funding access.
