Qatar, a wealthy natural gas producer and ally of the United States, is working on its Artificial intelligence development to remain one step ahead of competition in the neighboring Gulf states like Saudi Arabia or the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Qatar is investing in AI infrastructure and workforce training aligned with its national strategy for rising to leadership in digital innovation. While Saudi Arabia has invested billions in research and development for AI under Vision 2030, the UAE has set up an AI ministry as well as AI-enabled government initiatives. By collaborating with Scale AI, Qatar aims to spur its rate of AI uptake and combat these regional goliaths.

Scale AI’s Role in the Global AI Ecosystem

Scale AI, which is considered to be the best supplier of quality data to train AI models, has signed a partnership agreement with the government of Qatar to build and develop AI solutions for public sector improvements, management of smart infrastructure, healthcare, education, cybersecurity, and economic planning over five years. This will include traffic flow optimization, energy consumption, waste management, improved health services, education, and workforce development improvement. The national cyberspace and government information will be improved and secured with AI. The other aspect of the agreement covers AI training programs so that Qatari workers can be equipped and skilled to work and maintain AI systems. This goes in line with Qatar's vision of building a tech-savvy global workforce that will be the foundation of AI innovation in the region.
